Summary: This role serves as a firmwide technical authority responsible for advanced tax research, statutory interpretation, and high-level written guidance across complex tax matters. It is ideal for a senior tax attorney who thrives in deep technical analysis, issue spotting, and research-driven problem solving rather than frontline advisory work. The position directly supports attorneys, CPAs, and leadership by strengthening planning strategies, validating tax positions, and ensuring technical accuracy across legal and tax functions. This role plays a critical part in elevating firmwide tax quality, compliance, and strategic planning capabilities. What You’ll Do: Conduct advanced tax research across corporate, partnership, individual, and international tax matters Draft technical memoranda, internal guidance, and research-based planning documentation Interpret statutes, regulations, case law, IRS guidance, and legislative updates Support complex tax planning, audits, compliance reviews, and structuring initiatives Maintain internal research libraries, methodologies, templates, and technical standards Brief attorneys and tax leadership on emerging tax developments and regulatory changes Experience You’ll Need: 5 years of tax technical experience in a CPA firm or law firm environment Advanced tax research experience across partnership, corporate, individual, and international tax Strong background in complex return review and technical issue identification Proficiency with research platforms and tools (Bloomberg, LexisNexis, Checkpoint, Blue J, AI/GPT tools) JD with LL.M. or JD with CPA and Active bar admission High-net-worth planning, entity structuring, and business reorganization experience a plus Why Join: Direct impact on firmwide tax strategy, planning quality, and technical excellence Hybrid work model with structured in-person collaboration Long-term career growth as a technical specialist and subject-matter authority Opportunity to shape internal research standards and methodologies
