Technologist EMPLOYER: Tower Orthopaedics DEPARTMENT: Back Office
REPORTS TO: Doctors, Clinic Administrator EFFECTIVE DATE: 1/1/25
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for performing radiographic
examinations appropriate to the patient’s age-specific needs
following established policies and protocols. DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: · Performs full range of diagnostic and routine
fluoroscopic exams on patients of all ages. · Positions patients
appropriately for test being performed following established
protocols; adjusts equipment to produce high-quality x-rays. ·
Explains procedures and positioning to patients. · Monitors and
maintains essential patient care and safety during procedures;
applies safety principles as identified by established policy. ·
Selects and operates all x-ray equipment; develops film. · Provides
protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety
standards. · Assists physician in administering opaque media as
needed. · Provides test results to patient’s physician and other
appropriate healthcare providers. · Performs daily quality control
of equipment and other quality assurance/quality control activities
as required. · Maintains department statistics and records. ·
Maintains inventory of necessary supplies. · Prepares rooms for
diagnostic procedures. · Participates in continuing education to
continually improve skills and abilities and stay abreast of
current technologies/practices. · Assists in the development of
technical factors and film selection. · Ensures compliance with
legal issue including but not limited to patient confidentiality
and risk management; ensures compliance with JCAHO, federal, state,
and local regulations. · Performs other related duties as assigned
by management. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: • This job has no
supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS: • Associate's Degree
(AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or
six months to one year related experience and/or training, or
equivalent combination of education and experience. • Certificates,
licenses and registrations required: o Registration by AART/CRT or
Limited X-ray Tech certification. • Computer skills required: o
Database Software Modmed; o PACS System o Word Processing Software
(Word); o Electronic Mail Software (Outlook); • Other skills
required : o Knowledge of radiology protocols and imaging
equipment. o Ability to work with the general public and provide a
high standard of patient care. o Familiarity with radiology
software. o Exhibits a high degree of courtesy, tact, and poise
when interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare
